ABOUT OPERATING ROOM INNOVATIONS

Operating Room Innovations, Inc. was founded by two orthopedic surgeons and two operating room scrub technicians, with 80 years of combined operating room experience. Inspired by personal experience and feedback from other like-minded healthcare professionals, ORI’s products continue to be Designed by Surgeons for Surgeons with the primary goal to deliver highly-effective OR solutions dedicated to improve patient outcomes, workflow efficiencies, and operating room budgets.

Mark McBride, M.D. – CEO & Co-founder

Dr. McBride is a Board-Certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience, specializing in hip and knee resurfacing and surgery. Dr. McBride received a B.S. in physics and mathematics from the University of Arkansas and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Vanderbilt Medical School. Completing his internship and residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, he received a Navy Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal during his tenure. Dr. McBride is an American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Fellow.

Joseph Jankiewicz, M.D. – Co-Founder

Dr. Jankiewicz is a Board-Certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 24 years of experience. Dr. Jankiewicz specializes in hip and knee resurfacing and surgery. Dr. Jankiewicz received a B.A. and a M.S. in biology from Philadelphia’s La Salle College and Villanova University, respectively. He received a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and internship and residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. Dr. Jankiewicz is an American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Fellow, a member of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons.

Ruel Salvaldor – Co-Founder

Ruel, practical working experience as an RN and operating room scrub technician in orthopedics and gastroenterology. Throughout his career, he strived to improve operating room efficiency. Ruel was trained as a Navy hospital corpsman at Great Lakes Naval Station and worked as a field medic with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, completing Surgical Technologist School at Balboa Naval Hospital at the top of his class. Ruel graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in biochemistry/chemistry.

Alex Duy Bui – Co-Founder

Alex, operating room scrub technician with experience in orthopedics, cardiovascular, bariatrics, and plastics/reconstructive surgery procedures. Early in his career in a hospital in New Iberia, Louisiana, Alex regularly questioned operations and practices in the operating room.  He quickly developed a problem-solving mindset and enthusiasm to improve efficiency and safety by creating innovative operating room products.
